UK Scrappers Swaps

Over the past two months I have taken part in a few swaps on UK Scrappers, here are some photos from them.

I have an Alice in Wonderland book that I plan to alter and I am going to use my Alice Tip in Pages and tags inside of it along with lots of inky painty art. You can find more information about the Tip in pages on an earlier post HERE

I found this book in the specialist children's book shop in Hay on Wye a book collector's dream town to visit.

I did not like to tell the seller what plans I had in store for it!

This has been a mammoth update but I really wanted to show you the fantastic work that the crafters on UK Scrappers do. There are some really talented people there and I would like to thank everyone for the lovely work that I now have to enjoy and draw inspiration from.

These swaps are organised by the wonderful Netty alongside quite a few different people who give up their time to make sure the swaps run smoothly and on time.

A big thank you to them from me.

Irene chose the artist Andy Goldsworthy for her artist for this Circle Journal. Irene encouraged us to use found and recycled items for her page. Here is my page in all it stages of development.

I have covered the page in matte-medium to strengthen it and make it more robust.

The Erosion Bundle Project

I have recently joined the a Flickr group of like minded people who are readers of an American Magazine called Cloth Paper Scissors and who all live in the UK. One of projects that was in the May/June 2010 issue of the magazine was called disco (disintegration collaboration). Essentially it’s all about placing some bio-degradable items somewhere outside to weather and deteriorate as Mother Natures see fit – then bring it back inside to reveal and dry and make some form of creative art with the results. The group was encouraged to hang their bundles out to be exposed to the elements on 21st June 2011 and leave the bundles at the mercy of British weather for 6 months and bring them back inside for the big reveal on the shortest day of the year - 22nd December 2011. Well I have come to this project a little late so I have put together my bundles and hung them out on the 4th October 2011. I will still bring my bundles in on the 22nd December 2011 and see what Mother Nature has done to them.

My First bundle is what I call my Romantic selection of papers, fabrics, ribbons and other found objects!

The second bundle is a Rustic collection of papers, fabric, metal objects and even a used teabag!

They were wrapped and tied in Calico for the Romantic bundle and Hessian for the rustic bundle.

Both bundles are now hanging from the Bay tree in my garden.

Colin says that it is now confirmed that I have finally lost the plot.

However, I am quite excited to see what the British weather can do to these bundles.

Halloween Home Decoration

I have just spent the last few days making my contribution for the Halloween Home Decoration swap on UK Scrappers. For this swap we worked in groups of 9 with each person choosing a letter to make up the word HALLOWEEN. I was last in my group and had the letter N to do! I chose a spooky theme which I had fun creating but I got a bit carried away with doing it and as you can imagine there was rather a lot of cutting, embossing, painting and gluing involved!!!!

Artistic License Circle Journal

This is the canvas that I made for Tigs over on UK Scrappers.

Interpreting her chosen artist Vincent Van Gogh, the picture is called 'The Harvest' and was painted by Van Gogh in 1888.

I have used Claudine Hellmuth's Sticky-back Canvas.

First printing and mounting the main picture and adding a framed smaller section of another printout. I have framed the smaller picture using Gold metal which I embossed first. To finish off I added 3 small silk sunflowers as another small homage to Van Gogh.

I hope Tigs like it!
